Woven delight

Just freshly off the plane from Istanbul, I managed to stuff a beautiful antique rug into my bag.
To be honest I didn't know much about rugs, carpets or kilims when I arrived in Turkey. Luckly for me I ended up at the right place, a small shop called Arsah. Quickly apparent was this warm, family-run establishment was passionate, knowledgeable and honest about their beautiful woven works. After viewing what had to be hundreds of rugs and kilims and drinking several cups of fragrante tea and strong turkish coffee I finally narrowed my choice down to one special piece. The colour, history and story all wove together something special for me. However what I left with was more than a rug, I left there with a new appreciation for a craft which was deeply routed in this beautiful country.

It's a wrap!
Could this be the most interactive print magazine ever? London based www.thewrappaper.com is already on it's third issue. They work with talented illustrators and provide interviews about their process and inspiration. The added delight to this magazine is that it's printed in a large format without any fixed bindings so that it can all be recycled as....you guessed it, wrapping paper! Brilliant!

Buenos Aires into its' own

Buenos Aires has been on the radar for some time now as a super hot destination, and it looks like it is far from cooling down. Along with many great hotels and restaurants the city recently got it's first concept store Pehache. The store opened it's doors in the hip neighborhood of Palermo Soho and carries objects exclusively by South American designers and artists such as Lucas Risé, Desirée De Ridder, Patricio Lix Klett and Florencia Monis. Make sure to revive yourself by grabbing a house-made cafe con leche!
